contact consumer protection groups

In addition to the Minnesota Attorney General, file your consumer complaint with consumer or animal protection organizations.

Many organizations have online complaint forms. Each organization takes action in different ways (i.e., contacts the business directly, refers to city attorneys, posts consumer warnings or blogs, conducts investigations, etc.); the more people who know about the problem, the better the results.

• Better Business Bureau

File a complaint at: Minnesota BBB

WARNING: Do not trust the ratings provided by the Minnesota Better Business Bureau (BBB) for breeders, brokers and pet stores. Currently, the BBB gives high ratings (A and A+) to many breeders, brokers and pet stores in Minnesota, due to the fact that consumers may not be aware of their service and are not filing complaints — and due to the fact that the BBB does not visit the kennels or facilities and conduct inspections so as to determine if the animals are treated well.
